India vs Pakistan World Cup History

1st come Normal Matches then come Big Matches and then there is INDIA vs PAKISTAN. Can you find out a bigger event than this? Let's look at the History these two teams are holding in WCs.

Let's recall.

World Cup 1992 (Australia(Sydney)) :

It was a 49 over match. India was batting 1st and Sachin's 54 and Kapil Dev's quickfire 35 helped India to reach 216 for 7. Chasing 217 Pakistan lose 2 early wickets but the 4th wicket partnership between Aamer Sohail and Javed Miandad was looking dangerous but due to some great bowling from Sachin, Kapil Dev and Prabhakar, they restricted Pakistan for 173 and won the match by 43 runs. Man of the match was none other than the little master Sachin Tendulkar. Ahhh! after waiting for so long to see a clash between these two rivals it's finally India lead by 1-0.

World Cup 1996 (India(Bengaluru)):

Now it's big time. It's in the home ground, in front of the home crowd, expectations have touched the sky high. Again India is batting first and due to the brilliant batting from Navjot Singh Sidhu (93 of 115) India managed to reach 287. This time chasing 288 Pakistan got off to a flyer for the brilliance of Aamer sohail and Anwar. But India somehow managed to take the control in the middle overs as Kumble and Prasad shared 3 wickets each. Finally the innings came to an end at 248 and India won it by 39 runs and Sidhu was declared the man of the match. It's 2-0.

World Cup 1999 (England(Manchester)):

Again India batting first. It was a low scoring encounter where Rahul Dravid played a very crucial knock of 61 and India finished with 227 for 6. Chasing a small looking target of 228 Pakistan almost surrendered in front of some exceptional bowling performance of Srinath and Prasad. Prasad took 5 wickets and declared as the Man of the match. Pakistan bundled out for 180 and pakistan won the match by 47 runs. 3-0.

World Cup 2003 (S.Africa(Centurion)):

This time Pakistan was batting first. With the help of some great batting display from Saeed Anwar (101 of 126) Pakistan reached to a handsome total of 273 for 7. Chasing 274, the opening duo of India (Sachin and Sehwag) went all in and it was raining boundaries in the 1st 7-8 overs. Though the captain was dismissed for a duck but the solid innings from Yuvraj and Rahul Dravid made sure India reaches the target with 26 balls remaining. MOM : Sachin Tendulkar. Equation : 4-0.

World Cup 2011 (India(Mohali)):

Again back to the home soil. One step away from making it to the finals. The big-big semifinal. Sehwag was hitting Umar Gul all over the place. And India got a brilliant start. But somehow wickets started to fall in a row and it was not looking good for India but the master bluster was at the crease and he made sure with his knock of 85 of 115 India reached a not so handsome but defendable total of 260. In a big match scenario 261 was not at all an easy ask and Pakistan felt the heat and with  great spells from Nehra and Munaf they were bundled out for 231. India won by 29 runs and they were on the way to meet Srilanka in the finals. <<< 5-0 >>>

World Cup 2015 (Australia(Adelaide)) :

It all started 23 years ago in this same country. Back then it was Azharuddin who leaded from the front and this time it was MS Dhoni the defending WC champion Team's captain who is going to meet the biggest rival in Australia. India batted first and with the Hundred of king Kohli and a great supporting knock from Raina helped India to touch the 300 mark. Chasing more than 300 in these big matches is not at all an easy ask and Pakistan proved this correct as well. They were never into the chase and with the help of some great disciplined bowing from India, they managed to restrict Pakistan for 224 and won the match by 76 runs. MOM : V. kohli.

So the equation lies 6-0 now in WCs. Will it be 7-0 or 6-1 or will it stay 6-0 as the Rain God is not looking that adorable. Let's hope we'll get a 50 overs match. The forecast of Manchester is looking like :
